Remember your rainbow blocks!

I just want to remind everyone you can still make rainbow blocks and bring them to the June meeting for the charity project!

I also wanted to share a couple rainbow projects I've seen online that I absolutely love!!!! These are both on my "wish list" to try someday!

First is this Bottled Rainbows Quilt-along from Stitched in Color.  You have to go to the links to see how the quilt blocks are made. It is adorable!!!!

The second rainbow quilt I really love is this one made from scraps on the A Quilt is Nice blog.
 So, so cute and colorful!

It's a Baby~ June's Meeting

Girls!!
This is going to be fun.
We've got some fun things up our sleeves
and they're not just elbows!
This baby shower is just a theme
and we would still love to see
anything you are busy with.

It does not have to be 'baby-ish'.
But if there's something you've always
wanted to try for a baby gift
or a special baby in your life....
this is the month to challenge yourself!
Bring a friend and help us celebrate
Sweet T. Baby!!

April 12 more projects

We are so excited to have Veronica join us at quilt group! She shared this tiled embroidery project she is doing for a raffle. She has embroidered the Serenity Prayer on several fabric "tiles and will combine them together to make a wall quilt. She said there are 32,000 stitches in just one of the flower tiles!

Linda wanted to make a bag and shared her blue and yellow hand bag.

Julie made some adorable Easter dresses and matching purses for her granddaughters. She used some Riley Blake fabric and a Simplicity Sew Easy pattern.

Julie also showed her completed tumbling blocks quilt. It was quilted by Shirley Wilson.

Lori is making this quilt for the LDS Humanitarian Services to help her son with one of his scouting merit badges. He will help tie the quilt and then deliver it to the Humantarian Center.

Chris made this quilt from a jelly roll she received from her daughter. It is her first jelly roll quilt and it turned out beautifully. It looks like peppermint candies!

Ginny made a very cute rag quilt  with rough-edge applique flowers. She used flannel instead of batting for this quilt - she said she cut up an old flannel sheet for the batting.

Rosemary used lots of flannel from her stash to make a scrappy patchwork quilt. Its amazing how odds-and-ends pieces of fabric can work together to make fun quilts!

Janis brought of the four I-spy quilts she is making for her grandchildren. She created the pattern with dissapearing 9-patch blocks and is using a quilt-as-you-go method to put it together. She said there are 78 matching sets and 10 squares that don't match.

Leann wowed us with her Lone Star quilt tops. The black background makes such a dramatic presentation!
She said she wanted to try a scrappy Lone Star and used a Soul Blossoms jelly roll by Amy Butler to put together to bright scrappy star.

LeAnn also brought this quilt her son's friend made for his girlfriend. LeAnn helped him choose the fabrics and he cut and sewed it together. LeAnn quilted it for him and he will have an awesome gift to give!

Des made this Christmas Lone Star quilt top. She has an amazing talent for putting together fabrics and making them look wonderful!

Des also showed her completed quilt using blocks from the jelly roll sampler blocks.

Des also made this scrappy quilt from her vintage "granny sheets." It was inspired by a scrappy trip around the world quilt Des saw at Quiltville. There are several trip around the world inspirations here, here and here.

Donna made these wall quilts with her mother and daughters and granddaughters. Each person made an embroidered block for herself and for each of the others. They exchanged blocks and everyone combined their embroidered blocks with repro fabric to make her own wall quilt.

Ilene showed us a levi quilt she made using the 10-minute block we learned about in March. She folded and stitched the middle(plaid) square so it looks like a cathedral window block. The curved stitching on the blocks with the folded center block completely changes the look of the completed block!

Thank you everyone for sharing your wonderful projects!

April 12 Projects

Wow! There were so many beautiful quilts and projects again this month! And we were so excited to welcome Devri's sweet baby to the group! He is adorable!!!

Stephanie L. was inspired by the projects last month and was busy, busy sewing a bag and lots of cute little girls skirts and accessories.

Sandi shared a fun and practical clear zipper bag to keep current projects together and accessible. We loved this idea! Such a cool way to organize and store smaller projects! There is a TUTORIAL HERE for a similar bag with a zipper and another tutorial for a bag without the zipper so you can make your own project bags!

Sandi also showed us this square bag she made to keep projects in also, and the current project she has hiding in the bag is pretty crochet cockscomb flower clips.
Here is a tutorial for a square bag that is similar to Sandi's. Thanks for link Des!!

Sandi had the fun idea to make a levi quilt from dresden plate blocks she received. She simply stitched the dresden plates onto squares of denim and combined it all to make this fun, colorful quilt!

Sandi also showed this very pretty quilt we decided to call the watercolor quilt because of the colors. She appliqued the flowers onto the lime and pink blocks. This quilt was quilted by Leann Price.

Mona made this cowboy quilt especially for her grandson. She wrote a poem about for him that describes some of the things he says and loves right now and put it on the label. This will be a fun reminder when he gets older of his little boy days!

Teri said she has been working to finish some of her project piles and made some pretty table runners.

Teri also shared this amazing china blue sampler quilt made from blocks she won at a quilt show. She said she made up the design and used the book "Setting Solutions" as some of her inspiration for the layout.
