Quilt meeting for September 2012

Julie started us off this month with a red/black quilt made of simple squares set on point.

Julie also brought a simple mini quilt with hand embroidered flowers in the border. This little quilt won Julie a Best of Show ribbon at the fair!

Rose's blue and yellow quilt shows some different blocks using the fun exploding rail fence technique.

It was a good year for our quilters at the fair since this fun quilt won a red ribbon for Rose. She created a bright border around a panel of Pickles cartoons that feature a little quilt humor -- of course!!

This gorgeous quilt is from Barbara and features scrappy stars and a string block border.

Elaine made this quilt at a retreat recently in Cedar City. She said the pattern is called sparrow's star.

There were lots of oohs and aahs when Darlene showed this bargello quilt with country colors!

Darlene also brought this smaller quilt in blue and white. The yellow stars are appliqued by machine.

Stephanie chose a different layout pattern for the blocks our group did for a mystery-quilt-along earlier this year. She said she chose this layout just because no one else in our group had done it this way.

A few teal and black fabrics make a bright baby quilt from Jonnel. A simple layout lets the colors and fabric patterns stand out.

Vicky said she wants to be a cowgirl and used the Urban Cowgirl fabric line to make herself a birthday present. She used a pattern called "Turning 20" for this quilt.

Vicky also entered her bargello quilt in the fair. She received a blue ribbon and also Best of Show for this amazing quilt!
